LG 1480RD 9/6kg Direct Drive Washer Dryer Machine

I bought this LG Direct Drive Washer Dryer Machine just barely two years ago. I was happy with the low vibration / noise level and its cleverly incorporate two functions in one (washing and drying clothes) I barely used the drying function.However the machine has since broken down. The machine flooded my kitchen and corridor without warning and would not retain water afterwards leaking profusely.LG Corporation made no attempt to consider my case at all when I contacted them over five times instead they are quoting inflated callout - repair labour - spare parts charges without consideration of circumstances.I regret falling for the marketing ploy around this product and feel badly let down by LG and their poorly made product. Its a shame that LG are shouting about direct drive and how long it will last when other parts of the same machine cannot perform as well as cheaper belt driven machines I've experienced. I have since bought a belt driven washing machine as a replacement and the noise and vibration difference is quite negligible. LG had an opportunity to have made a commendable product but shame its not quite there by a long short in the simplest areas that often matters with these things.

Avoid LG at all costs!

I bought an LG Washer Drier Model No. F1403YD5 in October 2010 for £549.00. On 19/11/12 the motor packed up. The machine was about 5 weeks out of warranty when the fault occurred. LG have insisted, that despite being out of warranty for only a handful of weeks they will not repair the machine for free. I have had to pay out £130.00 to book one of their engineers to fix it. Having made the payment the engineer called the next day and said the motor needed replacing and it will take 10 days to have the part sent over from Holland. He told me there are virtually no spare parts for LG machines held in the UK. Very inconvenient and a very poor aftercare service indeed! Will never buy one of these again.
