Does the job

Bought this four months ago and it has worked perfectly since. With two kids we are using it everyday and it washes everything very well. Really like the fact that you can set the dryer to come on after the wash cycle has finished so you get washed and dryed clothes after about 3 1/2 hours!Only reason it hasn't got a 5 star is because of the lack of a quick wash cycle. This is something my previous model had and was perfect for washing lightly soiled loads in about 30 minutes.

fabulous - does what it says on the tin

although i didnt buy this from amazon, im so pleased with it i felt compelled to write a review.on having a complete refub on my kitchen, i felt mabye the time was due to upgrade to a washer dryer.obviously its a lovely looking machine which is what grabs you first. its also quite compact in size compared to my old indesit. i chose the one with manual dials on and not push buttons, as i felt this would be much easier for me to get to grips with and handle due to my arthiris in my hands, and so it is.the programmes are easy to set and it does everything i need. wash, dry or both, long or short cycles, hot or cold. fabulous. they do take a while, but you would expect that if you are setting it to wash and dry. it can however be manually stopped at any time. which is handy if you want to take something out. it has three handy drying settings, so you can just air things to hang to finish drying.when i first used this i had to continously check it was working due to the fact it is so quiet! never had a machine this good.

Good until it sets on fire

Now firstly I didn't buy this item from Amazon.Bought this washing machine on Christmas Day online, received it on the 30th December and had it installed around the 5th January.On the 10th February something started blowing 30amp fuses in my apartment. So after an evening of no electricity due to no where selling the correct cartridge fuses at 9pm on a Friday night I was finally able to sort the issue on Saturday morning.However something kept blowing the new fuses, finally I identified it to the washing machine or socket it was using, so I had my building maintenance manager come out to look at the socket and change it out if necessary. At the same time I had him change the fuse in the Washing Machine and try it in a different socket.IMMEDIATELY UPON PLUGGING IT IN THE SOCKET BURST INTO BLUE AND ORANGE FLAMES WITH SPARKS GOING EVERYWHERE.Once we'd put the fire out we set about repairing the damage to my property (I have a good landlord and he likes things to be repaired as quickly as possible) we checked the socket that had just set on fire and it still worked, on several devices. Removed the original socket and there was no sign of melted wire or carbon/soot inside, but we replaced it anyway.So that's what happened, currently this is still sat in my kitchen, Hotpoint will get round to removing it from the property soon, firstly I have to wait for a sticker, then book a collection time.The machine before it set on fire was quite good though, wasn't the fastest dryer in the world and was quite noisy, but really if it's going to set on fire no list of features or recommendations are going to be a comfort.Just bare in mind, the machine wasn't running, nor was the power button on (its a soft power button like a standby switch on a tv) so essentially this could have gone up any time, while I was asleep or out and it was under a counter not somewhere I'd have been able to get to it quickly in an effort to put it out.Very dangerous and a lack of concern from Hotpoint in the matter is a real thumbs down.
