Do not buy hotpoint

We purchased a hotpoint Aquarius washing machine about 8 months ago from Currys. At firstit seemed to be good value although later it started to leak. We called out the hotpointrepairman as the machine is supposed to have a 5 years parts warranty. He told us theleak was due to a crack in the drum and this was most likely due to coin damage. He saidthis isnt uncommon and told us he would take the drum away for inspection and if it wasdeemeded to be coin damage he would come back and fit a new drum for which we would be charged80 pounds call out although he wouldnt do the inspection in-situ. So the likely scenariowas we would be charged 80 pounds call out and any subsequent call outs would be 80 poundsif the hotpoint engineer decided it was misuse. He said we would also be charged for a newdrum but advised it could be fixed if we chose to do this with fiber glass. Well I did as hesaid having the other option of paying for a new drum and 80 pounds call out. Despitehaving several previous washing machines that lasted over 10 years with little or no problemsthis is not only terrible service but to add insult to injury the paddles inside the drum havejust fallen off. We will no doubt have to call out the engineer who will tell us that we aremisusing the machine and try and charge us for call out plus parts.I strongly caution anyone against buying a hotpoint. The machines are not durable and theirwarranty isnt worth the paper its written on. Instead of relaxing weekends I have now tolook at buying a new machine to get rid of the piece of rubbish we bought in good faith.Seriously DO NOT buy a hot point washing machine - you will be sorry. We will likely justbuy a new machine although this one is less than a year old. Repenting at leisure despirebelieving we made a good purchase decision. Utter rubbish.
