2 year guarantee, broke down after 2 years 3 months

Good dishwasher from the start. Or so it seemed. Bosch historic quality .. our last dishwasher was a Bosch and lasted 14 years. This Bosch came with a 2 years guarantee as standard and given our previous experience we were delighted with it. Bought from Co-op Electricals... delivered no problem and old one taken away. Cleaned dishes well with no problems at all until now. 2 years and 3 months old it developed a problem which kept tripping the house fuses. Had a local engineer round who said it was a problem with the eletrical unit. Has a second engineer round who said we needed a new electrical control unit as it was obviously malfunctioning. Rang Bosch for an opinion who said that we needed to get one of their engineers to look at it. Their engineer said we needed a new electricl board but quoted £130+VAT plus labour to sort it out for us (with no guaranteed max charge for labour) - ie approx £250 cost to fix. Very disappointing - but we are paying to have it sorted. Will buy a Miele next time.

We had a Bosch dishwasher for 10 years and replaced it with a John Lewis one because we wanted a stainless steel finish. Big mistake! The JL one is made by AEG and never performed as well as the Bosch. It died after 7 years.We have replaced with the Bosch SMS65E12GB, which is almost identical to this. The current model uses slightly more water and is slightly noisier than ours.What a difference! The control panel is simplicity itself to use, plus it remembers the last program you used. It counts down until the finish and then switches off a minute later. There are loads of programs, ranging from 30 minutes to about 150 minutes long.There are a load of options for packing. The top tray has three height settings, or it can be removed easily and a sprayer fitted at the back, for really tall loads. We have not needed to do this yet as the high setting of the top shelf clears most things. Only really large baking trays might need this.The manual is generally clear, but setting water hardness and rinse-aid are not obvious, and could have been made clearer with more pictures. There are extra online manuals on the Bosch web site. Just input SMS65E12GB. The supplement on packing is useful. Installation is simple, and I did that single-handed.The water consumption on our machine is unbelievably low, considering how good the results are. The Economy wash only uses 6.5l (12 on this one)! If your water is metered, this could be a major consideration. Power use is 0.92kWh per wash and standby is an impressive 0.1W, or about 10p a year. Ours is a quiet 44dB, but this is an equally quiet 48dB.Edit: We have had it about 6 months now and the results have been superb. It is so easy to pack, it's quiet and we love it!Highly recommended!
